Quick reference

Managing your classes

Changing to a different session. If the date doesn't work, click "Change cohorts" on your class card. Pick a different scheduled session, auto-enroll in the next one, or save your seat and we'll email you when a new session is scheduled.

Missed a class. Click "Apply for next class" on the class card. Your seat is confirmed on the 1st of the following month, at no extra charge.

Requesting a refund. Before your class begins, go to My Purchases and click "Request a refund". You get 60% of your purchase price back. Once a class has begun there are no refunds, but you can always apply for the next cohort for free. Full terms.

Learn to code. Build cool stuff. Do it together.

Quick Start: New Student

Ready to learn? Here's what to do:

  1. Browse classes - Classes are organized by learning tracks. Find one that fits what you want to build.
  2. Enroll - Pick a class and check out via Stripe. You can buy individual classes or subscribe to a full learning track.
  3. Check your email - You'll get a magic link (no password needed). Click it to log in.
  4. Open your dashboard - See your enrolled classes, upcoming sessions, and curriculum access.
  5. Access your curriculum - Course materials are on the site, available after enrollment. Each class has its own curriculum pages.
  6. Join Matrix chat - matrix.themultiverse.school is our community platform. Say hi and tell us what you want to build.
  7. Come to class - Your calendar invite and emails include a classroom link that takes you to the class, on campus or by video call. Class is live, interactive, and hands-on.
  8. Come to a stand-up - Monday–Thursday, 9:00am Pacific, on campus, where we start projects together and get questions answered. Your dashboard lists today's stand-ups under Today's Schedule, with the start time shown in your own timezone.

The week at a glance

All times Pacific. Everything below happens on campus.

When What
Mon–Thu, 9:00–10:30am Founding Federation — Week 0 is everyone together; Weeks 1–2 split into Go To Market and Make and Do, running at the same time
Mon & Thu, 11:00am Neurodivergent Strategies
Fridays Open Campus — no stand-ups, but campus is open for you to work, study, and collaborate

After Week 2 comes an off week before the next cycle starts. Off weeks are Open Campus too: no stand-ups, but campus stays open for you to work, study, and collaborate. During an off week your dashboard says so instead of listing a stand-up, so an empty schedule means "no stand-up today", not "something is broken".

How Learning Works Here

No grades. No bullshit. Learning by doing.

Becoming an engineer means doing lots of little projects. You decide you want to build something, then sit down and chip away at it. That's it.

Here's how it works:

  • Start projects in class - We give you several projects to get started with together
  • Use the curriculum to build - Each class has structured materials, exercises, and resources available on the site after you enroll
  • There are scaffolding exercises for any tools or code you need to learn - work through them at your own pace
  • Come to class to motivate each other, connect as humans, and get questions answered - That's what class time is for
  • Share what you discover - Everyone's experiments help everyone learn

We use flipped classroom:

  • Watch videos, lectures, and other passive learning on your own time at your own pace
  • The curriculum has videos on most pages - watch them before class
  • Come to class ready to do the exercises from the videos and ask questions
  • Try to start the exercises before class if you can
  • Class time is for tech demos, working together, getting unstuck, and human connection
  • We do tech demos (these can take a while, but they're hands-on and interactive)
  • You always have time in class to work on your projects

We don't do:

  • Traditional lectures where you sit and take notes
  • Assignments with deadlines (there are exercises, but you choose what to explore)
  • Grades or performance tracking
  • Punishment for "not getting it"

You learn by building lots of little projects. Class is for starting together, staying motivated, and connecting as humans.

Learning Tracks & Paths

The school is organized into learning tracks — curated sequences of classes that build on each other.

Your path dashboard at themultiverse.school/paths shows:

  • Which tracks you have access to
  • Your progress through each track
  • Upcoming classes in your tracks
  • What to take next

Tracks include:

  • Independence — Build the skills to work for yourself
  • Defender — Counter-harassment, digital safety, security
  • Build AI Systems — AI/ML engineering
  • Creative Automation — Using AI for creative work
  • And more — browse all at themultiverse.school/paths

You can also take individual classes without subscribing to a full track. Browse everything at themultiverse.school/classes.

How access works

When you subscribe to a track ($250/mo), you get access to all classes and curriculum in that track. If you complete every session of a class, you keep permanent access to that class's materials even if you cancel later.

Founding Federation (daily drop-ins)

The Founding Federation is our intensive drop-in program — daily sessions, Mon–Thu:

  • Go to Market — daily standup focused on launching, getting to revenue, and building your business
  • Make and Do Hour — daily session focused on building, creating, and learning the craft

Each cycle starts with Week 0, where everyone is together; on Thursday of that week you choose the branch that fits your goals, and the two branches run side by side for Weeks 1–2. Then there's an off week before the next cycle. Both are live, hands-on, and community-driven. Scholarship students attend these regularly as part of their participation expectations.

Pricing & Access

We believe in radical accessibility. Here's how pricing works:

Tier Price What You Get
Individual class Varies Enroll in one class, access its curriculum
Track subscription $250/mo Access all classes and curriculum in one learning track
Full access $500/mo Everything — all tracks, all classes, all curriculum
Supporter tier $60/mo Stay connected, support the community

Scholarships exist. They come with participation expectations (showing up to standups, staying engaged). If you need one, apply — no shame.

No hidden costs. No upsells. No bait-and-switch. Prices are stated upfront. See the full Support & Pricing page for details.

Learning Resources

  • Multiverse Campus - The virtual world — walk around, video chat, attend classes, talk to AI agents, do quests. Full campus guide
  • Your curriculum - Access course materials on the site after enrolling. Each class has its own pages.
  • Class day companions - Interactive tools that accompany each class session, linked from each class on your path dashboard
  • Interactive tools - Self-paced workbenches and learning tools, linked from your path dashboard — use them anytime
  • Community Resource Commons - Community-contributed resource library — find and share resources for mutual aid
  • Class sessions - Live on campus or by video call; your calendar invite and emails include a classroom link that takes you there
  • Stand-ups (Mon–Thu, 9:00am Pacific) - Founding Federation on campus; see the week at a glance
  • Matrix chat - Ask questions, share what you're building, help others

What Makes This Different

This is a liberatory learning community - education as the practice of freedom, not compliance.

What that means:

  • Horizontal relationships - Facilitators have expertise, you have questions. Both matter. We learn from each other.
  • Mutual aid - We help each other because we're interconnected, not because some people are "helpers" and others are "helpless"
  • No saviors or gurus - No one here is enlightened. We're all figuring it out together.
  • Transparent about power - Facilitators can enforce agreements and remove harmful people. We're honest about that.
  • Neurodivergent-affirming - Direct communication, no masking required, accommodations offered

This works for: Unconventional learners, neurodivergent people, folks recovering from traditional education trauma, anyone who learns better by building than by listening to lectures.

Community Agreements

We have a Code of Conduct that boils down to:

  • Be excellent to each other
  • Be kind and helpful
  • Learn cool stuff, share cool stuff, build cool stuff
  • Ask questions, dig deep
  • Don't be a dick (full details in the CoC)

Confused about terms? Common Misunderstandings explains what we mean by "horizontal relationships," "mutual aid," "boundaries," etc.

About The Multiverse School

Founded by Liz Howard (they/them). An experimental adult education community for unconventional learners.

We practice liberatory pedagogy, build through mutual aid, and dare to love deeply—which includes fierce boundaries when needed.
